The Fullerton Ocean Park
Hong Kong
Inspired by the marine biodiversity and rich history of Hong Kong Island, the interior design takes influence from natural corals, 19th Century sailing boats and the glamour of the 1950s. Fullerton Ocean Park redefines seaside resort lifestyles through subtlety in design and an emphasis on beautiful materials.
A welcome of seaside charm and elegance. The drop-off area greets guests with a warm and inviting atmosphere where carefully selected natural materials of bronze, steel, timber, and stone seamlessly extend inside, fostering a sense of comfort and cohesion that permeates the entire resort.
The lobby lounge is effortlessly connected with the outdoors, blending the boundaries of nature. Large trees and tropical plants in locally made vessels and handcrafted sisal-inspired rugs echo the outdoors and create a welcoming space to linger. The 7.3m-high ceiling affords a panoramic view of the ocean while fans suspended from the high ceiling take inspiration from the verandas of the famous Repulse Bay Hotel. Bespoke screens, woven finishes, and abaca sheer blinds were commissioned for the space, inspired by the overarching nautical influence.
“The lobby is a wonderful light-filled space that overlooks the ocean. It’s got some amazing foliage, trees and lots of casual seating groups. It really makes you feel you’re out of the city and in a resort destination.”
The Suites celebrate voyage narratives of ocean explorers. Elements of sailing adventures inspired interior design details of leather stitching, metal craft and heritage pieces of Hong Kong.
The bedroom is a refined space inspired by the corals and marine life, where abstract coral patterns feature in custom carpets and gradients of the sea are echoed in wall coverings. A living space conceived for celebrations. The oversized travel trunk unfolds to reveal a stocked bar for guests to entertain in style, indoors or on the outdoor living deck.
“The suite overlooks the sea, it has a really strong connectivity inside and out, and is a really great place to sit and enjoy the view.”
Overlooking the South China Sea, the spa has an enchanting tranquillity that evokes the essence of coastal living. The concept takes inspiration from the minerals unearthed in ocean park. A pure neutral palette with accents in mineral tones creates depth and revisits the narrative of place.
The luxurious changing rooms offer panoramic views of the bay and mountains. Tucked away in a secluded corner, a vitality pool provides both privacy and a sweeping, dramatic panorama for guests to enjoy.
The theme for the Lighthouse Café is tropical colonial. Plentiful tropical plants and subtle touches of green tones create a natural mood and make the space flourish.
A modern interpretation of colonial architecture sets the stage for a contemporary, flexible space designed to suit family-style gatherings and expand and contract depending on the season. A successful all-day-dining design should be flexible. We designed a functional space, with the ability to section off areas, so that at low occupancy, the space maintains an atmosphere befitting any number of guests.
A ballroom for grand occasions. Required to be a flexible space, able to host meetings, weddings and theatre occasions, the neutral but considered design focuses design designs set around carefully chosen floor and wall coverings. One of the unique features of the Ballroom is the straw marquetry. Exquisite plains of colour, texture and movement of reflected light set into feature panels around the room.
